Last week, the family of a woman who died after being rear-ended on the freeway by singer-actor Brandy Norwood, filed a $50 million civil lawsuit against the entertainer, according to an article in E Online.

The civil complaint accuses Brandy of “driving recklessly when her Land Rover struck the back of a Honda driven by Awatef Aboudihaj” on Dec. 30.

The deceased woman, a 38-year-old wife and mother, was transported to the hospital with major injuries including multiple pelvic fractures and died on New Year’s Eve.

The family filed the documents in Los Angeles Superior Court stating that Aboudihaj was invaluable to her entire family because she worked three jobs to take care of her parents in Morocco, her ill brother and sister and her three children from a previous marriage.

According to court documents, the woman’s parents, Aboudihaj Ahmed and Labridi Zohra, are seeking $50 million in compensatory and punitive damages.

“I don’t think any amount of money that can be given to them will compensate them for such a loss,” the family’s attorney told an L.A. television station. “She was a special, special lady.”

I can understand the family’s point of view. After all, for 28 years Bisnar|Chase has represented thousands of people who have been injured in auto accidents and as a result of defective products or other tragedies caused by someone’s negligence.

This may have been an accident, we don’t know that for sure. But the damage has been done. A life has been taken. Three families’ hopes for a livelihood and a bare existence has been snatched away from them. The only person who cared enough about them to work three jobs has been taken away.

And wrongdoers or the negligent – whether they are celebrities or the guy or gal next door, must be brought to justice.

We have represented numerous clients who have suffered similarly and in all cases without exception, the life lost is irreplaceable and precious. The loss causes pain to all concerned, including us, the attorneys, who seek answers, ask questions and feel our clients’ pain.

If you or a loved one has suffered such a loss, contact me. I will focus the stenght and resources of our law firm on holding the wrongdoer accountable and obtaining just compensation.
